Tools for Protecting Your Security and Remote Access

Whether you decide to get into the e-Currency Exchange business or not, there is one thing we all need to be aware of and that's securing our personal information, on and offline. Many people think Anti-Virus software protects their computers from every possible threat, but that’s just not true. There are other threats to our security and privacy from software parasites that get dumped on our computer each and every day. These can be in any of the following forms:

There are lots of things you can do to protect yourself. I recommend the following and they are listed in order of importance:

  1. Anti-Virus Software (McAfee Anti-Virus)
  2. Spyware & Adware Removal Software (SpywareDoctor)
  3. Data Encryption Utility (Cryptainer ME or Secure IT)
  4. PC Remote Access Software (GoToMyPC)

1. Anti-Virus Software

First and foremost you need to install Anti-Virus software on your computer and make sure your virus definitions are up-to-date as well. If you don’t currently have an Anti-Virus product on you’re computer, it’s like playing Russian roulette. It’s not a matter of if your computer will be infected, it’s a matter of when. Also, if you let your annual subscription run out and you’re no longer receiving virus updates, you MUST renew your service. New threats emerge every day and if your protection is not up-to-date, you are absolutely vulnerable to attacks.

One of the best Anti-Virus software product on the market today is McAfee VirusScan. McAfee is running a special now on their award winning Anti-Virus software program and you can save $5 off the purchase price. Get Real Time Virus Protection and save $5

on McAfee Security VirusScan Software.

2. Spyware & Adware Removal Software

Anti-Virus software is not enough. There are other malicious programs that attack our computers daily. These are known as Spyware, Adware, Malware, Key-Loggers etc. Each one has it's own goal. To learn your surfing habits and track them, to popup unwanted advertisements while we're on our computers and to monitor our key-strokes as we type on the keyboard, to get information like login names and passwords. And if you think this isn't happening to you, think again. Many of these programs all but hibernate on our PCs, capturing all sorts of information from us. If nothing else, you should scan you PC for free with SpywareDoctor to see how much of this garbage is on your system right now. You won't believe what you'll find.

3. Data Encryption Utility

We all keep personal and private information on our PCs. This can't be avoided. But we should always try our best to protect our personal information from prying eyes, or worse, backdoor programs, like spyware, that can steal this information from us. I have so many websites and programs I belong to, I used to keep all my login names and passwords in a Microsoft Word document on my computer. I'm a software engineer and know the threats that exist and knew it was wrong to do this. I thought I could name the file something different, and that would keep it safe. Wrong! The only way to keep your personal information safe on your computer is to Encrypt it. I found a fantastic program called Cryptainer ME from Cypherix that protects any information you want. It's simple to install and use, and you can't beat the price! Get your copy at Cryptainer ME now and start using it and stop leaving your personal information, documents and files at risk. To take Encryption to another level for encrypting e-mails, data on CD's, and more, you should look at Secure IT. This has even more flexibility and when sending encrypted e-mails, the recipient doesn't even need a copy of Secure IT to open it!

Remember, it's very important we all take the necessary steps to protect ourselves and our computers from all the threats out there today, and tomorrow. We hear about identity theft and credit card theft and fraud all the time and think that will never happen to us. Well, I'm sure many of the people who had these horrible things happen to them, thought the same thing. Do what you can to protect yourself, because nobody else is going to do it for you. It's better to be proactive, than trying to straighten out a personal fraud case later.
